Google Search “core updates” What you should do

Google Search “core updates” What you should do…

Google Search "core updates" What you should do…
Nearly 90% of consumers uses Google Search

Every time Google releases updates especially “core updates”, some if not many seem to panic. Of course, they worry that their rankings might go down or their previous content strategy might not work anymore.

The main question here really is, are we making “quality” content? If your answer is yes, then there is no need to worry. Just like what Google said, “there might not be anything to fix at all”.

Google Search Algorithm

Core updates are designed to fix, correct, or improve Google’s ability to provide the most worthy content to people using their platform (Google Search). This is to help you get a better understanding on how content should be made, so you would be able to take full advantage of their platform.

My personal take on this is that, this is just another way of Google reminding content creators to be always of value. Since the time when SEO was just starting, Google has always been reminding all of us to produce quality contents (though how they may have defined it before might have changed a bit). Still, there are so many out there who just simply play the game of numbers by focusing more on the algorithm, rather than the content itself.

Google Search Rater

Again, Google is just simply telling us to focus on content. To sum it up, a content that relays Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. This is what Google calls the “E-A-T perspective” which “search raters” use to evaluate content. And this is I think is the most important to note here in this core update release. Having real people as “raters” might play a vital role later on in Google search algorithm. You might want to review closely Google’s search quality rater guidelines.

Though Google mentioned that raters do not affect rankings as they are used only to confirm if changes in the algorithm works well. This allows me to think that Google might implement what they have implemented in Youtube to have real people assess videos and channels aside from just having the alogorithm in place.

The goal is to have a better search and a better internet. And let’s be part of it. A lot of resources have already been wasted by just trying to prevent these bad practices from happening. I’d rather be helpful. Let’s continue to make valuable content. Feel free to check Google’s recent blog, What webmasters should know about Google’s “core updates”.
